Barbara Maskrey, based in Northumberland, is a skilled fine artist who specialises in capturing her local environment to haunting effect. With a combination of fine detail and broad brushstrokes, she focuses on the banks of the river Tyne for her canvas art pieces. A once proud shipping industry once worked these banks, an industry that has now sadly died. What remains, the apparatus and shipbuilding structures is slowly being reclaimed by nature - as concrete is splintered by weeds and tangled bushes sprout around the legs of once mighty cranes.
